Vanderhoof is a new project from Kurdt Vanderhoof of Metal Church Fame.
The unfolded front and back cover of the CD booklet. For the European release the Vanderhoof logo is printed on the inlay card beneath a transparent jewel box so it shows along the left edge of the cover. The US release features a newer logo that is printed on the cover of the booklet.
The photo of the band that appears under the CD itself, printed on the inlay card.
A small version of the band photo landscape that appears in the center of the CD booklet.
The individual photos were provided by the band, including the pictures that were used to build the cover collage. Kurdt Vanderhoof wanted artwork that harkened back to the days of large photo fold-outs in vinyl packaging. I built the cover collage and other artwork with this in mind, using the limited aspects of CD packaging as a guide.
The sky, sphere photo, and inner book landscapes were all designed and rendered in Bryce II (MetaCreations). The inner photo landscape took 55 hours to render at 8x5 inches, 300 dpi on a Power Macintosh 8500/120.
The album is out in Europe on SPV Records. The band toured Europe with Savatage in Fall 1997. The US release is looking at an August '98 release.
